We sighted 1 dolphin species, the common dolphin.
On average, we had 7 guests per dolphin watching tour and 1 seasickness case.

This following week we only expect good sea conditions for Tuesday 12th and Friday 15th, the other days until next week will be too windy for the ocean tours.

Weekly Update December #1

In the past week we found dolphins in all of the dolphin watching tours, 323 days since the last failed tour.
We sighted 1 dolphin species, the common dolphin.
On average, we had 6 guests per dolphin watching tour and 0 seasickness cases.
Sea state was on average sea state 2.
This following week Wednesday will be the only day with a tour planned, as we expect poor sea conditions and rainy days until the weekend. On the weekend we expect good wind conditions but some high seas which can reduce our capability of finding dolphins. Still bookings have been quite low, meeting the minimum guest number will be another threat to the tours.

Sea conditions for the next days

There will be a tight schedule for dolphin watching in Lisbon this next week. Saturday 2nd will be by far the best day to book a dolphin watching tour in Lisbon area (Cascais also). As the other days will have wind blowing from the south with +3m high waves (our coastal configuration can’t shelter winds&waves coming from the south).

If the forecast for Sunday 3rd improves a little bit we’ll have fair conditions to go to the Sea, as well. Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th are looking promising for the next week.

Weekly Update November #4

In the past week we found dolphins in all of the dolphin watching tours in Lisbon, 316 days since the last failed tour in Lisbon. However we did one tour in the south where we failed to find the resident population.
We sighted 1 dolphin species, the common dolphin. We also had harbour porpoises.

On average, we had 6 guests per dolphin watching tour and 0 seasickness cases.
Sea state was on average sea state 2.

This following week we expect after Monday 27th we’ll close until the weekend. Tuesday 28th is almost good enough, but has been getting worse wind forecast as we get closer.

The wind regime of Friday onward should proportionate good conditions for dolphins to settle close to the coast.

Sea conditions for the next days

We expect near perfect weather conditions until Wednesday 29th, which shows minimum conditions to go out looking for dolphins. Weather will deteriorate further with storm regime Thursday 30th onward.

We will have the return of the upwelling in Lisbon bay, after months of downwelling. This might mean shorter times until we find the dolphins! The biggest threat to our tours will be meeting the minimum booking number.

Despite the colder waters, the sea temperature will still be higher than the temperatures on land.

Book a dolphin watching tour before the good weather goes away!

Weekly Update November #3

In the past week we found dolphins in all of the dolphin watching tours, 309 days since the last failed tour. We sighted 1 dolphin species, the common dolphin and we we also had harbour porpoises.

On average, we had 8 guests per dolphin watching tour and 1 seasickness cases, but with the breakfast saved. Sea state was on average sea state 0.

This following week we expect Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd to be too wind for tours, with the following days looking quite good.

Forecast for the next week w47

We still have near perfect weather conditions, only next week we expect a short change in the good weather pattern, with Tuesday 21st with too much wind to do tours. After 2 days the good weather should return (Friday onward), if tours will happen or not during these 2 days, check the weekly update next Sunday.

Dolphins will stay hard to find, so it means that we really need to ensure the minimum guest number to go out, as we will need to cover quite a distance until we find them.

‘St. Martin’s Summer’ is next week!

This week the weather has been very bad, we will close the week with only one single tour on the past Tuesday.

The forecast looks better for the next week and all the way to 3rd week (w46)! Very light winds and gentle seas for Wednesday and the weekend! Thrusday 9th seems to be a hiccup of this trend, with rain and wind.

This following week we expect high seas and gale force wings except for Tuesday. Tuesday 31st will be the only day with conditions to go to the Sea, with light wind and waves short enough to find dolphins.

Weekly Update October #2
