We still have near perfect weather conditions, only next week we expect a short change in the good weather pattern, with Tuesday 21st with too much wind to do tours. After 2 days the good weather should return (Friday onward), if tours will happen or not during these 2 days, check the weekly update next Sunday.
Dolphins will stay hard to find, so it means that we really need to ensure the minimum guest number to go out, as we will need to cover quite a distance until we find them.
In the past week we did not found dolphins.. but we found their close cousins! We sighted no real dolphin species, only managed to find some harbour porpoises. (picture)
On average, we had 8 guests per dolphin watching tour and 0 seasickness cases. Sea state was on average sea state 1.
This following week we expect near perfect days, all the way until 24th! There is a remote possibility for morning fogs, but probably nothing to worry about.
The main restriction will be meeting the minimum guest number (5 pax), which had been shown to be a problem lately.
This week the weather has been very bad, we will close the week with only one single tour on the past Tuesday.
The forecast looks better for the next week and all the way to 3rd week (w46)! Very light winds and gentle seas for Wednesday and the weekend! Thrusday 9th seems to be a hiccup of this trend, with rain and wind.
In the past week we found dolphins in all of the dolphin watching tours, 288 days since the last failed tour. We found at least a second group in all tours. We sighted only one dolphin species, the common dolphin. We we also had harbour porpoises and blue sharks. On average, we had 9 guests per dolphin watching tour and 1 seasickness cases, but with the breakfast saved. Sea state was on average sea state 3.
This following week we expect high seas and gale force wings except for Tuesday. Tuesday 31st will be the only day with conditions to go to the Sea, with light wind and waves short enough to find dolphins.
In the past week we couldn’t do any tour. We almost went out on Saturday 21st, the boat was fully booked with 11 pax, no rain and very low wind. But the Seas were 3m high, our Rorqual can easily handle these kind of seas, as she has a hull designed for the ocean. However high seas disables dolphin detection at distances higher then 50m and we were the only boat going out we decided not to go, as the probability of finding dolphins were lower that we felt comfortable.
This following week we expect rainy and windy days, with high seas after Wednesday. At this moment Wednesday is the only day with good conditions, light wind, seas of 1.8m high and scattered showers on land.
In the past week we found dolphins in all of the dolphin watching tours, 274 days since the last failed tour. We found at least a third group in all tours but one. We sighted sharks, sunfishes and 3 dolphin species, the common dolphin, striped dolphins and bottlenose dolphins. On average, we had 9 guests per dolphin watching tour and 2 seasickness cases. Sea state was on average sea state 0.
This following week we stormy weather all the way to the weekend. The weekend has near perfect weather conditions but the waves will still be very high until Sunday. There will be only a tour on Saturday.
In the past week we found dolphins in all of the dolphin watching tours, 267 days since the last failed tour. We found at least a second species in all tours except for yesterday. We sighted 3 dolphin species, the common dolphin, striped dolphins and bottlenose dolphins. We we also had harbour porpoises. On average, we had 10 guests per dolphin watching tour and 2 seasickness cases, but with the breakfast saved. Sea state was on average sea state 0.
This following week we expect near perfect mornings until Friday. The forecast for Friday onward isn’t good, except for Saturday, which has near perfect conditions.
